Four Performers, Three Pianos, Infinite Sass: Florida Studio Theatre’s Musical Cabaret

Think you’ve seen a piano show? Sweetheart, think again. Three Pianos isn’t your run-of-the-mill recital. This is four powerhouse performers on three pianos, and every note drips with attitude, heart, and just the right touch of rebellion. It’s bold. It’s brassy. It’s unapologetically fun — and it’s at Sarasota’s Goldstein Cabaret.

Created by Rebecca Hopkins, Richard Hopkins, and Sarah Durham, with musical arrangements by Jim Prosser, Three Pianos celebrates piano legends who refused to follow the rules. From Billy Joel to Alicia Keys, Ray Charles to Freddie Mercury, this show honors the rebels, romantics, and risk-takers who turned 88 keys into pure magic. Timeless favorites like “Crocodile Rock,” “Just the Way You Are,” “Great Balls of Fire,” “I’m Still Standing,” and “Beautiful” get the full sassy cabaret treatment — and yes, you’ll be clapping, singing, and grinning the whole time.

Meet the Cast: Four Voices, Three Pianos, Zero Limits

The magic? It’s in the performers. Madalyn McHugh, returning to FST after last season’s Divas, brings pop energy and cheeky charisma from her band McHugh Girl. Eddie Weaver, a former FST Acting Apprentice, delivers chops honed across six FST productions. Jared Svoboda makes his FST debut with Broadway cred, including Jesus Christ Superstar and Dear Evan Hansen. And Devin McDuffy, also debuting at FST, rounds out the quartet with experience in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Cabaret. Together, these four performers turn three pianos into a symphony of sass, soul, and show-stopping spectacle.

Director and FST Associate Producer Catherine Randazzo says it best: “These artists didn’t just play piano: they redefined it. They turned limitations into strengths, genres into playgrounds, and melodies into movements. The piano became their voice, their heartbeat, their revolution.” Translation: magic happens when four performers take three pianos and a whole lot of attitude.

The Music: Hits, Heart, and a Wink

Expect a setlist that jumps decades and genres. From the soulful sway of Fats Domino to the anthemic joy of Elton John, the show delivers everything from ragtime swagger to pop piano anthems. But it’s not just about the songs; these four performers tell the stories behind the music, mixing humor, drama, and just enough cheeky flair to make you feel part of the rebellion. It’s the kind of night that leaves your toes tapping, your heart smiling, and your friends begging for an encore.

The Cabaret Experience

FST’s Goldstein Cabaret is intimate and electric — the perfect setting for this high-energy revue. With four performers sharing three pianos, energy ricochets around the room like a lightning bolt. Clap. Cheer. Sing along. Laugh. Stand up if you must. The audience isn’t just watching — they’re part of the fun. Every note lands with punch, every anecdote lands with a wink, and the sass is as infectious as the music is masterful.

Why You Need to See It

Whether you’re a seasoned music lover, a theater buff, or just someone who loves a night full of laughs, drama, and piano power, Three Pianos delivers. It’s clever, lively, and unapologetically fun — a cabaret experience that turns classics into fresh, vibrant, foot-stomping, heart-racing joy.

With performances running November 19 through March 29, tickets start at $37 — a small price for a night that promises big laughs, epic music, and four performers who refuse to play it safe.

Curtain Call

Three Pianos is a celebration of rebellion, passion, and pure musicality. Four performers, three pianos, and a cascade of energy that leaves audiences laughing, singing, and swooning. So grab your ticket, grab your sass, and let Madalyn, Eddie, Jared, and Devin show you how 88 keys can spark a revolution. This is more than a show; it’s a musical declaration: the piano is alive, it’s bold, and it’s ready to steal the spotlight — three pianos, four performers, and zero compromises.
