Turn Up the Heat at Florida Studio Theatre

Three sensational performers, powerhouse vocals, dazzling dance moves and a playlist packed with legendary hits make this one irresistible night out.

Let’s get one thing straight: Legacy: Motown & More! is not a sit-back-and-be-quiet kind of show.

This is a clap-your-hands, move-in-your-seat, and resist-the-urge-to-sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs turn-up-the-heat kind of evening. Now playing at Florida Studio Theatre’s intimate Goldstein Cabaret, this high-energy musical celebration comes out swinging and never takes its foot off the gas.

Created by Justin Reynolds, Legacy: Motown & More! brings together three sensational performers—Reynolds, Nigel Richards and Bryce Valle—for a stylish, joyful journey through some of the greatest music ever recorded. From Motown’s smooth soul and irresistible harmonies to the unforgettable hooks of pop and R&B, this show delivers one crowd-pleasing hit after another.

And these three men do not merely sing the music. They work the room.

Reynolds, Richards and Valle each bring a completely different flavor to the stage, and that is exactly what makes the combination so much fun. One moment is smooth and sophisticated, the next is playful and a little mischievous, and the next explodes with the kind of vocal and dance power that makes an audience sit up and take notice.

Together, they have charm, chemistry and just the right amount of swagger.

The production celebrates music made famous by icons including The Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, Earth, Wind & Fire and The Four Seasons. These are not background songs. These are the songs that make people immediately say, “Oh, I love this one!”

They are the soundtrack of first dates, family parties, school dances, weddings, road trips and nights when everyone ended up on the dance floor. Even if you have not heard a particular song in years, it takes only a few notes for the memories to come rushing back.

That instant connection is one of the great pleasures of Legacy. The show celebrates nostalgia without getting stuck in the past. The performances feel fresh, polished and current, with tight harmonies, clever transitions, lively choreography and enough personality to fill every inch of the Goldstein Cabaret.

Justin Reynolds is a true all-around entertainer—a singer, dancer, actor, director and producer whose career has taken him to more than 100 countries aboard luxury cruise lines, on international tours and to the Las Vegas Strip. He also portrayed Smokey Robinson in the national tour of Motown the Musical, working closely with Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr.

Reynolds brings tremendous experience and natural warmth to the production, but Legacy is not a one-man show. Its real strength comes from the interplay among all three performers.

Nigel Richards is a theatrical force with a commanding voice, magnetic presence and impeccable comic timing. His credits include the national tour of Spamilton and an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Richards knows exactly how to take control of a song—and an audience. He can be powerful, soulful, funny and wonderfully unpredictable, sometimes all within the same number.

Then there is Bryce Valle, whose credits include the national tour of Ain’t Too Proud, along with productions of Beautiful and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Valle glides across the stage with confidence, precision and a seemingly endless supply of energy. His vocals are strong, his movement is effortlessly smooth and his charisma is impossible to miss.

Put these three together and the sparks fly.

They tease, play off one another and trade the spotlight without ever losing the show’s momentum. Each performer has opportunities to shine individually, but some of the best moments come when their voices lock into harmony and their movements fall into perfect sync. The camaraderie feels genuine, and the audience is quickly drawn into their world.

The dancing deserves its own round of applause. Motown performance has always had a distinctive visual style—sleek, precise, elegant and cool without appearing to try too hard. Reynolds, Richards and Valle honor that tradition while giving it a contemporary burst of energy.

The choreography is sharp and fast-paced, but it never feels mechanical. These performers move with personality. Every step, gesture and perfectly timed turn adds another layer to the music. Just when you think they might slow things down and catch their breath, they launch into another number with even more energy.

Frankly, it is exhausting just watching them—and we mean that as the highest compliment.

Beyond the polished performances and fabulous music, Legacy has something audiences need right now: pure joy. There is no complicated plot to follow and no homework required. You simply walk in, settle into your seat and allow three incredibly talented performers to take you on a musical ride.

For 90 minutes, the outside world can wait.

The show also highlights why Motown’s influence remains so powerful. This music crossed boundaries and brought people together. The melodies were irresistible, the performances were sophisticated and the emotions were universal. Love, heartbreak, hope, confidence and celebration were wrapped in songs that made the entire world want to dance.

That legacy continues through today’s pop and R&B music, making the show appealing to several generations. Someone who remembers hearing these classics when they were first released can attend with someone who discovered them decades later. Everyone finds a favorite, and everyone leaves with at least one song happily stuck in their head.

Florida Studio Theatre’s Goldstein Cabaret is the perfect setting for the experience. The intimate space puts the performers close to the audience, creating the feeling of a private concert crossed with the best party in town. Guests can even dine in the theatre beginning one hour before showtime, making it an easy and complete evening out.

So gather the group chat. Call the friends who never turn down a good night out. Bring the person who knows every Motown lyric—and the one who claims not to dance but somehow always ends up dancing.

Legacy: Motown & More! is stylish, sassy, uplifting and loaded with talent. Reynolds, Richards and Valle deliver powerhouse vocals, dazzling moves and enough charisma to light up downtown Sarasota.

Come for the legendary music. Stay for the harmonies, the dancing and the deliciously playful chemistry.

Just do not expect to sit perfectly still.

Legacy: Motown & More! runs through October 4, 2026, at Florida Studio Theatre’s Goldstein Cabaret. Tickets are available through Florida Studio Theatre or by calling 941-366-9000.
