Gallery directors Danelle and Michele Pino have announced the reopening of WYN 317 in time for Miami Art Week. The newly renovated gallery will host a kickoff reception on Tuesday, Dec. 1, where renowned street artist John “CRASH” Matos will debut a solo show exhibition featuring new works. Throughout the week, the gallery will participate in Wynwood Mural Fest with a mural painting and virtual group exhibition, and will host the festival’s opening reception on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. To close out the week, on Saturday, Dec. 5, WYN 317 will host the launch of an exclusive release by Joe Iurato, a talented stencil artist known for his wood cutouts.
Matos’ solo show, entitled “45 Years Later,” will exhibit at WYN 317 from Dec. 1 through Jan. 2. It will celebrate his 45 years of painting, with new works on paper as well as never-before-seen works on canvas — all emblematic of Matos’ colorful, energetic style for which he has become so well known. The kickoff reception will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m., and will be open to the public.
As part of Wynwood Mural Fest, WYN 317 will have its exterior 43’ x 6’ wall painted by Meme Va, Deity La and Nico Mia from Few & Far Women, a nonprofit organization that celebrates female artists. Sponsored by Monster Energy, the mural will depict an indigenous woman surrounded by nature. The artists’ intention is to spark discussion and shine a light on human rights issues surrounding people of indigenous and Native American descent. The mural will be on display for the public to watch its completion. For those unable to attend art week in person this year, WYN 317 will display a virtual group exhibition, “Next,” featuring work by The London Police, Pez, Amanda Valdes, Ivan Roque, Registered Artist, Cranio, Diana Contreras, Nate Dee,and Sipros, as well as some of Matos‘ pieces from his solo exhibition at WYN 317. “Next” will be free and open to the public on WynwoodMuralFest.com from Dec. 3 through Dec. 6.
On Saturday, Dec. 5, Joe lurato will unveil an exclusive release of his sculpture entitled “High Seas, Low Seas.” Inspired by Bob Marley’s “High Tide or Low Tide,” the piece mimics the sentiment of the song, depicting two kids who are each drawing each side of an anchor. The anchor symbolizes their strength as friends, which in time will remain steadfast in calm or stormy seas. Iurato will hold a meet and greet at the gallery, which will be open to the public.
Throughout art week, WYN 317 will be open from Wednesday, Dec. 2 through Sunday, Dec. 6 from 12 to 5 p.m. or by appointment.
