With homeowners constantly on the lookout for the latest interior trends, and with the possibility of many of us spending more time at home, SellHouseFast.uk has investigated which interior décor styles are making waves so far in the US in 2020.

Using SEMrush, the average monthly Google search volumes for over 60 styles* in the States have been collated to reveal the most Googled Interior Design Style!

Results reveal that Farmhouse is the most Googled interior décor style. In the US it achieves a staggering 318,950 searches a month.

If you’re a fan of Rustic decorations, you’re not alone. In second place, it earns 190,240 searches a month.

And in third place is Scandinavian décor, with a whopping 126,540 Google searches a month.

In 20th place, at the bottom of our table, is Gothic. The extravagant nods to medieval Europe are less popular, yet still earn a respectable 23,510 searches a month.

Following Gothic, the next searched for interior trends are:

  • Tropical – 25,270
  • Retro – 27,480
  • Victorian – 29,020

  • Is Mid-Century Modern on its way out? – The style, highly influenced by Bauhaus, only achieves 20,320 searches a month – it places in 22nd.
  • European styles on the rise – Scandinavian (126,540), Italian (49,420), Victorian (29,020), Gothic (23,510), Greek (17,610), Tuscan (17,350) and European (15,640) all feature within top 30 Googled interiors.
  • Those with the lowest interest… Directoire, Modernist and American Colonial place in last (64th), 63rd and 62nd place respectively, earning just 730 searches a month combined.
