How to spend an iconic east coast weekend? What could be better than a jaunt to Boca Raton? A sister city to Sarasota in many ways- but with superb, high end shopping and even more world class dining!

A trip to Boca Raton is almost like going to a fabulous friend’s vacation home. This was ever so true at the famed Waterstone Resort & Marina. With sumptuous, custom-made furnishings and fabrics, glittering artwork and a one-of-a-kind marriage of water and stone {from which the new property derives its name inspiration}, Waterstone Resort & Marina, Curio – A Collection by Hilton, blends grand, opulent Boca Raton style with breezy, sophisticated coastal design to create an artistic water escape. Working with renowned artists Bette Ridegway and Nina Sampaleanu, Waterstone Resort & Marina boasts pieces of art curated exclusively for the resort, including a wax and apache piece that draw influences from the coastal surroundings.

The stunning lobby area encourages interaction among the pool promenade, making the outdoor space inviting, open and playful with unprecedented water views. Enhancing the expansive atmosphere are colors of the sun and ocean woven throughout the seating and lounge area. The same polished chrome against whitewashed teak wood millwork is both indoors and out to create a seamless transition between the main floor and waterfront promenade.

The agenda was packed with relaxation as well as fun and adventure. A mere 3.5 hours away, the glistening town of Boca Raton beckoned with anticipation. First on the agenda was a morning of stand up paddle boarding. The sun was high in the sky as we embarked on our paddle board journey into the deep blue intracoastal waterway. Stunning boats rocked in the light breeze as we quietly slid by on our boards. The calm waters almost became meditative and we also got some great exercise!
The restaurants on property are nothing short of spectacular. Boca Landing is a stunning spot for dinner; enjoy the indoor, outdoor, waterfront vibe- you feel as though you are in a mid century modern film! The food is amazing-Matthew Mixon, Executive Chef is influenced by his French and Italian heritage and showcases the local Florida ingredients. Excited to dig in, we started with the Handcrafted Buratta salad- smooth and creamy- and within the cheese theme onto the Plateau De Fromage with artisan cheeses, charcuterie, cornichons and fig preserves. Then on to the Pan Seared line caught Grouper and the Mustard Crusted Yellowtail Snapper- each prepared to perfection! The after dinner cocktail was a smash! Served in a bronze pineapple- it was really a work of art! Jazz and other live music is featured on the weekends, which really adds to the vacation feeling!

Some of the great cuisine had to be worked off at the gym which overlooks the pool area. Choose from a variety of machines and free weights- this is perfect to get your workout in while away on vacation! Lunch is a casual occasion on the water. Relax with a mimosa and enjoy the fresh fish dip- as a starter and the signature arepas with a chicken salsa mix that was a party on the plate of flavors! The fish tacos were outstanding as well- a perfect afternoon, watching the boats go by. Sadly, we had to end the perfect weekend at Waterstone Resort & Marina- we will sure to be back!
